The so-called Kosovo gets visa liberalization

Visa liberalization between the EU and Kosovo allows the citizens of Kosovo to travel and stay in the EU for up to 90 days without a visa in any period of six months with passports issued by the temporary Pristina authorities, the EP website said.

Last December, the ambassadors of the European Union approved visa liberalization for the so-called Kosovo. The European Parliament has supported visa liberalization with the so-called Kosovo since 2016, after the European Commission declared that the so-called Kosovo meets the criteria for visa liberalization.

President of the EP and the Swedish Presidency of the Council officially signed the decision today. The visa exemption would come into effect once the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is in place, most likely early next year.

Tomorrow, the ceremony of signing the legal act will be held, where representatives of the EP and the EU Council of Ministers will participate.
