In Serbia's place, no EU country would act any differently towards Russia, against whom the U.S. and the EU have imposed sanctions over the conflict in Ukraine.

"Every detail of PM's Russia trip will be considered"
Viskovic said that he expects that the visit of the Serbian delegation, led by PM Aleksandar Vucic, to Russia will be successful and that it is clear "it can not go without the attention of all countries, especially major centers in the world," adding that "every detail of the visit will be considered.""Although we have a clear strategic direction of EU integration, Serbia wants to maintain good relations with other partners. We have no reason to spoil these relations because someone from the EU and the U.S. wants us to do that with them," Viskovic said.
Commenting on Vucic's statement that the friendship between Serbia and Russia is based on rational grounds, Viskovic said that economic interests are primary in international relations, and that the prime minister wished to point out that the two countries are not linked only by emotions.
"Every smart state leads its foreign and foreign economic policy to protect the interests of its companies," he said, adding that the strongest message of the visit of the Serbian delegation to Moscow is that Serbia "continues its policy of good relations with everyone with whom this is possible ".
Viskovic said that the visit of the Serbian delegation is "specific, because it comes after some clarifications of relations of Serbia with Western partners, because it was necessary to point out to the Russian leadership that Serbia is not changing its policy towards Russia, and that economic relations have been given significant emphasis."
