Pristina also intends to "ask for a share in the assets Kosovo companies that had in branches in central Serbia," according to this.

The daily said that "Albanians from Kosovo could in this way send the dialogue into a stalemate because even engaging in discussion on these topics would practically mean recognizing Kosovo, which the Serbian government does not want to accept."

Ethnic Albanians in the province unilaterally declared independence seven years ago, but Serbia considers it a violation of its Constitution and territorial integrity.

According to the newspaper, the Albanian side is now also trying to delay an agreement on a future community of Serb municipalities for as long as possible, to use it as a bargaining chip to gain "concessions (from Belgrade) in other areas."

Under the term "war reparations," said analyst Fatmir Sheholi, Pristina has in mind "compensation for 127,000 houses destroyed during the war, the property which was socially owned and was destroyed by Serbian forces, as well as compensation to the families whose members were killed."

"Pristina also seeks pensions to be restored to Albanians, and expected part of the treasure of Yugoslavia from the succession process, as well as military and diplomatic facilities of the former state," he was quoted as saying.

Political analyst Dusan Janjic thinks that Pristina's request to include the topics of "succession and compensation" in the dialogue agenda was "the same as Belgrade's request to raise the question of the property of companies and who invested and what amount."

"One and the same topic is called by a different name. Pristina will insist that it is about a dialogue on succession, because it seeks to present to the public a Serbian 'recognition' of independence, while Belgrade will hold that the talks are status neutral, which they are," said Janjic.
