"Serbia always stood with Russia, must do so now"

Vice-President of the opposition DSS party Nenad Popović has said that Serbia "must in no way take part in EU's policy against Russia."

"Serbia always stood with Russia, must do so now"

Serbia has throughout its history always stood with Russia, and must continue to do so now, Popović noted.

A DSS statement added that its official stressed that Russia "has a legitimate right not to allow its population in Ukraine to fall victim to violence."

According to him, it is clear that the EU incited the violence in Ukraine, because it could not accept Ukraine's decision to break off EU integrations and turn to closer cooperation with Russia.

The statement said that Ryazanskiy expressed his gratitude to the DSS for its support for this country's efforts made in order to "stabilize the situation in Ukraine."

"Russia will do all it can to calm the situation in Ukraine, and return it to legal frameworks," the United Russia official said.
