BELGRADE Sasa Obradovic said on Friday that he expects Croatia's genocide charges against Serbia to be dismissed. However, the agent of Serbia before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague refused to comment on a potential court epilogue of the countercharges filed by Serbia. Serbian team expects ICJ to dismiss Croatia's suit "I expect Croatia's charges to be dismissed, and as for our plea, I will leave it for the Court to decide", Obradovic told Tanjug. He said that Serbia's strategy is essentially focused on contesting claims of genocide against the Croatian people in the course of armed conflict in Croatia from 1991 to 1995. "On the other hand, we will do everything to bring up the matter of brutal crimes committed in Operation Storm, as the culmination of ethnic cleansing that took place in Croatia, and present it before the court as genocide, the very term that Croatia insists on in an attempt to find legal grounds for it,” says Obradovic. "If genocide is what Croatia claims it is, then the Croatian military Operation Storm is the perfect example", Obradovic pointed out. He added that the dispute with Croatia offers a new possibility for Serbia to once again present the crimes committed during the Storm before the international legal experts. Obradovic emphasized the importance of such action in view of the “catastrophic outcome of proceedings before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia" and the fact that nobody has yet been held responsible for the killing of around 2,000 and ethnic cleansing of more than 230,000 Serbs during Operation Storm. "We have solid evidence for that", he stressed. The ICJ in The Hague (FoNet, file) Tanjug
