BELGRADE Vojvodina Executive Council Chairman Bojan Pajtic says a session on a declaration on protection of Vojvodina’s rights has nothing to do with Brussels talks. He said that complaints about the fact that the draft declaration had been placed on Vojvodina assembly’s agenda a day after a decision on the Belgrade-Pristina negotiations were a “fallacy”. Declaration on Vojvodina’s rights “advocates rule of law” “The issue of negotiations with Kosovo is taking long and will take long. Mentioning a date is a fallacy,” Pajtic told daily Politika. When asked to comment on a fact that even Democratic Party (DS) leader Dragan Djilas was surprised by the declaration, he said that the declaration advocated the rule of law, “which is completely in accordance with the party’s ideas and principles”. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) will today take part in a protest against the declaration and disintegration of Serbia in Novi Sad today. Pajtic noted that the declaration called for a transfer of funds guaranteed to Vojvodina by the Constitution from the republic budget, for the government to stop managing the provincial assets which was against the Constitution and called on the republic institutions to respect Vojvodina’s legal powers during appointment of directors. “Vojvodina’s autonomy is slowly but surely being abolished with a series of actions of various republic institutions. As a head of the provincial government I do not have the right to keep silent about this fact,” he underscored. Pajtic added that an “unheard-of atmosphere of lynch” was created and that media calls for violence were numerous. “We will not participate in violence and the atmosphere of lynch will not prevent us from telling the truth,” he concluded.
