Serb Progressive Party deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic says he "does not understand why the government should interfere in the election campaign the way it did". He also stated he could not see the reason for the criticism coming from some presidential candidates, stressing that it showed that the state authorities were panicking. Opposition party baffled by "government interference" Vucic made these statements during a press conference on Friday in Belgrade when asked to comment on a statement made by head of the Serbian government's media relations office Milivoje Mihajlovic, who said that a recent statement by SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic that the agreements Serbia had made in the negotiations with Pristina would not influence his decisions if he became president was "extremely irresponsible and detrimental to the state's interests". “Nikolic said that he will not be bound by anything that is not in line with the Constitution,” Vucic said and asked “can it be that the government admits that it has been doing something in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.” Vucic said that the “their smear campaign and videos they released” were "pathetic". Continuing its campaign on Friday, the party also promised to increase investment in agriculture, energy and infrastructure, which would open up new job opportunities - once they are voted into office. This was heard on Friday from SNS presidency member Zoran Mihajlovic. At a press conference in Belgrade, Mihajlovic said that the party would seek to alter the structure of the gross domestic product (GDP) in favor of agriculture and industry. The goal of the SNS is that the agriculture production should make up between 25 and 30 percent of the country's GDP, while the industry should be there with at least between 40 and 50 percent, he added. Parliamentary, local and presidential elections will be held in Serbia on May 6. Aleksandar Vucic (Tanjug) Tanjug
