UN chief again calls for solutions in line with 1244

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the world organization is ready to do all it can to maintain peace and find a peaceful solution to Kosovo issues.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the world organization is ready to do all it can to maintain peace and find a peaceful solution to Kosovo issues. These solutions should be in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, he noted in New York on Friday. UN chief again calls for solutions in line with 1244 The secretary-general expressed his concern over "unexpected actions which led to the worsening situation in northern Kosovo," a statement said. He called on restraint and peace, and urged solutions to be found via a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The statement was made after Ban's meeting with Kosovo Albanian official Enver Hodzaj, who represents the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina as its foreign minister. The UN chief stressed that it was of key importance for all sides to refrain from actions that could lead to a deterioration of the situation. The state broadcaster RTS is reporting from New York that Hodzaj attempted to enter the UN headquarters on Thursday, was was turned back, and told that he "had no appointment". A day later, he met with Ban. On Thursday, the UN secretary-general met with Serbian FM Vuk Jeremic, calling for solutions to be found in line with UNSCR 1244.
