Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic has accused the government and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of demagogy. “An avalanche of bad marketing and demagogy is launched by both the government and the SNS, which is copying them when something useless, but as a rule dangerous, should be proposed,” he told daily Blic. “Government, SNS demagogues” He stressed that the LDP would only join the government as a reformer which would bring modern ideas and energy. “I believe that this is clear to the Democrats. We cannot build a government with them on foundations on which the DS (Democratic Party) was cooperating with others for whom it was enough to be parasites behind Tadic’s back,” the LDP leader was quoted as saying. When asked whether partition of Kosovo was possible, he said that “the Serbs south of the Ibar River are people, not the cannon fodder” and that the LDP did not accept that kind of, as he said, “cheap political relation”. “We proposed a platform for the negotiations for the Serbian side in September, along with a request that the Kosovo Serb representatives be full-fledged members of the Kosovo team. That is why we strongly supported the Serbs to participate in the elections,” Jovanovic pointed out. “Through the change of the Kosovo policy and seriousness in the negotiations Serbs would quickly get to exercise the rights which are formally guaranteed – the autonomy in the local self-government, health and education systems, police and special ties with Serbia, new municipalities, more seats in the government, more efficient protection of property,” he explained. The LDP leader also noted that the basic principle for solving of problems should be the rule of consensus and that the agreement could not be changed without consent of both Serbs and Albanians. Pointing out that he would not comment on the situation in the DS, Jovanovic said that the fact that Vuk Jeremic was still a minister, “although almost without portfolio” was risky.
