The United Nations have offered to participate in organizing direct talks between Belgrade and Pristina. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon gave his support for the adoption of the resolution by the General Assembly and offered to help in starting the negotiation process. The dialogue was proposed in order to improve cooperation and make progress in the European integration process move along faster, while improving the lives of the people living in Kosovo, according to the resolution, which also notes the International Court of Justice’s opinion that Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence did not violate any international laws.
