Sretko Kalinic, one of the Zemun Clan gangsters guilty of the murder of Zoran Djindjic still at large, was found in suburban Zagreb, Croatia. Reports said that he was shot twice on Tuesday around noon, and according to Serbian police (MUP) Director Milorad Veljovic, he is now in a Zagreb hospital, in a stable condition. Djindjic murder conspirator found wounded Veljovic said that Simovic was shot by another Djindjic assassination conspiracy gangster also on the run – Milos Simovic. Both Simovic and Kalinic were tried in Belgrade in absentia, found guilty and each sentenced to 30 years in prison for the March 2003 murder of then Serbia's prime minister. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said that Kalinic was now under arrest in Croatia, that he was hiding using fake identity, and that he was detained carrying a Croatian passport. The main conspirators in the assassination, Milorad Ulemek aka Legija, and Zvezdan Jovanovic, of the disbanded Special Operations Unit (JSO), were found guilty and are each serving 40-year prison terms.

Veljović said that Simović was shot by another Đinđić assassination conspiracy gangster also on the run – Miloš Simović.Both Simović and Kalinić were tried in Belgrade in absentia, found guilty and each sentenced to 30 years in prison for the March 2003 murder of then Serbia's prime minister.
