Serbian police (MUP) and other security structures have taken strong measures to secure Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit. This is according to a statement from Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic, made in Belgrade on Sunday. Tight security for Russian leader's visit Medvedev will arrive in Serbia on Tuesday, October 20. Veljovic explained that during the president's visit, highest security measures will be taken, adding that a sufficient number of police officers and other security structures will be engaged "so that everything would go as planned". "Once again we will show that Serbia is an extremely safe country and that it would not allow for anything that could jeopardize the security to happen," Veljovic said. He also appealed on Belgraders to "show understanding for police activities to be carried out during the visit of the Russian president". "After the recent visit of U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden to Belgrade, the arrival of Medvedev is another test for the Serbian police," Veljovic told the journalists after the opening of an exhibition dedicated to EU Anti-Trafficking Day.

Medvedev will arrive in Serbia on Tuesday, October 20.
