Workers of the Ravnica factory in Cuprija started a general strike on Monday against the decision to privatize the company. The workers at the confectionery plant blame the Privatization Agency for the poor situation in the company and are calling for it to abolish the decision for dismissing Milutin Vasic as director of the company, and naming Slavoljub Popovic to replace him. Factory workers on general strike The workers stated that they will not allow Popovic to represent the company, because he is a member of the Paracinka factory board of directors, and is one of the people most responsible for that factory’s demise. They also claim that Popovic wanted to buy Ravnica several years ago. Since he didn't succeed, he is now trying to achieve his previous goal "and ruin the company". The striker have been on a forced vacation since July 13. Previously, they were "working normally and received pay regularly until May". The Privatization Agency stated that “despite the clear legal regulations that all companies must be privatizated, several persons have been obstructing the privatization process for years, counterfeiting documentation and taking money from the company accounts without authorization". The workers recently prevented the new company administration from entering the factory, and threw eggs at them. The administration was named by the Privatization Agency.
