The new top Serbian Army (VS) brass will not cause great turbulence, military analyst Aleksandar Radic told B92. On Sunday, President Boris Tadic made a number of promotions and appointments in the army, including that of Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic to the post of VS chief-of-the-general-staff. Military analyst: No "great turbulence" Radic says that it is important for the army, as a conservative institution, to "stay out of great turbulence". The experience that Miletic and his deputy have is their advantage, this analyst added. "A period is to be expected where it will there will be very composed action and where the general staff will act without any politicizing." "Precisely the opposite of what have had in the past years, when there was a fairly quick and radical drive to rejuvenate. That irritated some observers from the general public, and there were negative reactions in the Army, and from the people who felt threatened," said Radic. Tadic sacked Serbia's youngest CoGS to date, Lt. Gen. Zdravko Ponos, on Dec. 30.
