Vojislav Kostunica wants the electorate to choose a "state-building, nationally accountable government." The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader and outgoing prime minister said in Bajina Basta today that the new government would fight on four fronts—to retain Kosovo as a constituent part of Serbia; to negotiate with the EU, but only as an intact country; to achieve economic prosperity; and to tackle corruption and crime. Kostunica seeks to build "nationally accountable govt." Addressing a crowd in the town’s central square, Kostunica said that that government would strengthen ties with the Republic of Srpska (RS), and would endeavour to link Serbia with the RS via the Drina river. He said that he would back the construction of as many bridges as possible between Serbia and the RS, as well as the formation of a common energy industry. “We’ll do this on the basis of rights enshrined within the Dayton Accords, in the same way as we’ll defend Kosovo on the basis of Resolution 1244, because Kosovo is Serbia. That is a message that resonates all round the world,” declared Kostunica. The DSS leader and New Serbia leader Velimir ilic will continue their tour of the Drina valley with a visit to the Drinska-Limska hydroelectric power station in Bajina Basta, before moving on to Ljubovija, Mali Zvornik and Sabac.
