UNMIK head Joachim Ruecker Tuesday called on Kosovo's assembly not to put up an Ahtisaari plan-based law up for vote. The request was sent to the speaker, Kol Berisha, after announcements that assembly may propose and adopt laws envisioned under the package of the former international mediator for Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari. Ruecker: Don't adopt "Ahtisaari laws" Ruecker said that laws under the Ahtisaari proposal could be proposed and adopted only in the 120-day transition period, after the determination of Kosovo's status, Pristina electronic media reported. The Kosovo assembly last week adopted the proposal of a law on citizenship and foreign affairs, based on the Ahtisaari blueprint. Spokesman for the Kosovo parliament speaker Skender Durmishi confirmed that Ruecker's letter had arrived.

Ruecker said that laws under the Ahtisaari proposal could be proposed and adopted only in the 120-day transition period, after the determination of Kosovo's status, Priština electronic media reported.

The Kosovo assembly last week adopted the proposal of a law on citizenship and foreign affairs, based on the Ahtisaari blueprint.

Spokesman for the Kosovo parliament speaker Skender Durmishi confirmed that Ruecker's letter had arrived.
