Serbia's Delta Holding has failed in its fifth attempt to enter the Slovenian market. The company's bid to buy Istrabenz share of the Mercator retail chain stock was higher than that offered by Infond Holding, which in the end still managed to come on top. Delta suffers another setback in Slovenia The latest effort to gather 28.3 percent of the Istrabenz shares in a public offer had the best chance to succeed, compared to previous five attempts in as many years. Delta's initial bid was at EUR 4 per share. However, Istrabenz has opted to sell its securities to Infond Holding, although the company, which owns Lasko brewery, offered less. Infond now owns 25 percent of Mercator, while Delta will have to satisfy itself with many other ventures in the region and its reported near-monopoly position in the Serbian market.
