Representatives of Slovenia’s Kras meat industry say no one threatened the company over their negotiations with Serbia’s Delta.

Kras: There were no threats

After a deal was reached yesterday allowing Delta to buy Kras shares, the Belgrade-based company was notified its Slovenian partner was pulling out of the arrangement.

Delta subsequently said in a statement that “Kras’ director and president, under huge pressure from the state institutions, including threat of police intervention, had to back down from the deal.”

However, B92 has learned from sources close to the Sezana-based meat processor that although the agreement on the acquisition had obviously been made, the seller was obligated to honor the primary right of purchase, which it did soon after reaching the deal with Delta’s mediator.

Kras has thus bought 10 percent of its own stock at the same price as that offered by the Serbian company.
