German court considering request in journalist's murder case

The German embassy in Belgrade said that the request was forwarded to a German court, adding that it was now being "processed," and that Germany "will do everything to help shed light on the murder of journalist Milan Pantic."

Antic now lives in Munich and denies any involvement in the murder. His questioning, the daily writes, is key to finding out what the motive for the killing was, "considering he had ties with Jagodinska Pivara (Jagodina brewery) leading people, about whose malversations Pantic was reporting."

Pantic died on June 11, 2001, after he was stuck in the head several times with a blunt object, in front of his home in Jagodina. In his reports, he was mostly covering crime in Jagodina and the Pomoravlje District.

A Serbian government's commission set up to help investigate murders of journalists on Wednesday issued a statement saying that after the breakthrough in the Curuvija case, it would now focus on the case of Milan Pantic.
