The Appeals Chamber of the Hague Tribunal today decided to reduce the sentence handed down to Veselin Sljivancanin. The former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) officer was sent to jail for 17 years for assisting the torture and involvement in the murder of 194 Croat prisoners near Vukovar in 1991. Sljivancanin will now serve ten years in prison.
