Ten suspects in the brutal assault of French football fan Brice Taton have been remanded in custody for 30 days on suspicion of attempted murder. Another suspect has been released on bail. French fan still in critical condition Belgrade District Court spokeswoman Ivana Ramic said that after questioning 11 suspects, the investigative judge had decided to expand the investigation and remand 10 of them in custody. “One of the individuals, accused of aiding and abetting the suspects after the crime, was not taken into custody,” Ramic said. She said that the suspects had been remanded in custody for 30 days because of the gravity of the crimes involved, which carry a sentence of between 30 and 40 years in prison. Taton himself is said to be in a stable, but critical condition, having undergone two operations for serious head injuries. He suffered serious injuries to the brain, lungs and pelvis, according to Serbian Clinical Center Director Djordje Bajec. He added that the condition of the young Frenchman remained unchanged, which gave him a better chance of recovery, but added that it was still too early to make any forecasts. Taton was brutally assaulted on August 17, before a football match between Partizan and Toulouse, while sitting with a group of French fans in a Belgrade café. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic told the Tanjug news agency that there would be more arrests in the case. Brice Taton (B92)
