The Hague Tribunal has denied that it is considering transferring ongoing cases to Serbia or other countries of the former Yugoslavia. The Tribunal is “not currently considering transferring any cases to courts in the region… especially not the cases against Vlastimir Djordjevic or Momcilo Peresic,” Tribunal official Nerma Jelacic said, in response to reports in Belgrade media that some cases would be transferred to Serbian courts. Hague: No transfer of cases Jelacic denied reports that the transfer of cases would be discussed at the next meeting of regional prosecutors in The Hague, scheduled for November 1. “The president, prosecutor and secretary of the international court have not scheduled a meeting regarding this issue with officials of the national judiciaries for November 1,” she said. Jelacic said that all cases in the investigative stage would be “referred to the Bosnian prosecution” in line with the strategy for ending the work of the court adopted by the UN Security Council. The Tribunal would continue to support the courts in the region and help build their capacities to hear war crimes cases once the Hague court closed, Jelacic said in a written statement.
