War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says the authorities are closing further in on Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic with every passing day. Speaking to daily Danas, Vukcevic said that Minister Rasim Ljajic’s prediction that Mladic would be in The Hague by the end of the year was objective. The prosecutor said that every tip-off connected to Mladic had been checked, many financial channels supporting him had been severed, and his recent movements had been reconstructed. Vukcevic: Noose tightening on fugitives According to him, Mladic had at one time “got an identity card without a fingerprint, through a telephone call and with the help of Vlajko Stojiljkovic, interior minister in (former Prime Minister Mirko) Marjanovic’s government.” He said that the report from Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz was “objective,” adding that in Serbia there was now a political will to arrest Mladic and Hadzic and hand them over to the Hague. “I think that it (the report) was objective. I’m sorry there is no more mention of Mladic and Hadzic except in terms of ‘incomplete cooperation.’ That’s a new term introduced two years ago. However, earlier incomplete cooperation was due to lack of political will. Now the political will is there, everyone is doing all they can to finish cooperation,” stressed the prosecutor. He said that new evidence had been found in the organ harvesting case, which he said was “astounding information.” “The case is progressing superbly; we are waiting for CoE rapporteur Dick Marty. We’ve found new evidence and astounding information” said Vukcevic. Vladimir Vukcevic (FoNet, archive)
