A Kosovo Serb Tuesday accused members of the Kosovo police KPS of arresting him without any legal reason and physically abusing him. The man, identified as N.D. said he was arrested Monday in front of the Gracanica monastery in the Serb enclave, where he was with his sister. K. Serb accuses KPS policemen of brutality He told reporters that policemen laughed at his sister and that he swore at them after that. "They got out of their jeep and pointed their guns at me. They twisted my arm and pushed me into the vehicle. Two policemen that I was sitting in between were beating me all the way to the police station. When we arrived there they threw me into a room and continued to hit me on the face, kidneys, spine and genitals," said N.D. in a live broadcast by radio KiM. Acting commander of the police station in Gracanica Rama Krueziu stated that N.D. had pressed criminal charges against three policemen for excessive use of violence during his arrest. The Serb National Council of Kosovo-Metohija strongly condemned the brutal beating and unjustified arrest, warning the international community and UNMIK that by failing to solve the problem of return of Serb policemen to the KPS "they run the risk of causing bigger incidents and endangering general security in the province".
