A Kosovo Serb has been arrested in Pec on suspicion of having committed war crimes during the 1999 Kosovo conflict. Momcilo Jovanovic, who fled Kosovo in 1999 and now lives in Arandjelovac, was visiting a graveyard in the village of Vitomirica, near Pec, yesterday together with 15 other Serbs in a trip organized by Belgrade’s Danish Council. Coordinator for the Pec municipality Radojko Dunic condemned the arrest of Jovanovic, saying it was a means of preventing and intimidating potential Serb returnees to Kosovo. According to the office of the Coordination Center for Kosovo in Kosovska Mitrovica, Dunic said that this case “was not the first trumped-up charge against Serbs, whose return is being hindered via suggestions in the Albanian media that their names are one of the war crimes suspect lists.”
