RRA "won't advertise to award nationwide frequency"

"It is clear that, in the opinion of the RRA Council, televisions Nova and Kopernikus do not meet the requirements for broadcasting nationwide," he said.

The daily reported that at least five members of the nine-member Council need to support one of the televisions in order for the frequency to be awarded, but that the first vote was 3-:2 in favor of Kopernikus and the second was tied, 4-4.

"We will wait until after elections and then consult with representatives of RATEL and the Ministry of Telecommunications," Karadžić explained.

Representatives of both television stations that applied for the available nationwide broadcasting frequency have announced their intention to appeal the RRA's decision.

Kopernikus Television Director Srđan Milovanović said that the RRA's behavior was"both harmful and unlawful."

"We have a good program, more than 100 employees, we have invested EUR 6 million in equipment, and we are planning to hire 200 people more. Besides, the government is losing half a million euros from rent on the frequency," Milovanović said.
