National Bank of Serbia Governor Radovan Jelasic says the central bank's key goal is to achieve and maintain price stability. He added that the 2010 inflation should be between 4 and 8 percent. Stable prices, key goal of NBS Speaking at the regional chamber of commerce in Subotica, Jelasic stressed that the market will continue to dictate the Serbian dinar exchange rate, adding that he cannot say what the exchange rate between the dinar and the euro will be at the end of the year. The governor stated that reducing the reserve requirement for banks would free up EUR 1.3bn, which the banks would then be able to use to grant favorable loans to companies. The company representatives attending the meeting asked that the RSD-EUR exchange rate be kept stable, so that they could make long-term business plans without having to account for differences in the exchange rate, and they also asked that some of the foreign exchange reserves be pumped into the economy through commercial banks in order to start new production and increase liquidity.
