Serbian and Algerian firms will apply in consortiums for construction work on infrastructure in Algeria, the Serbian Economy Ministry announced. “Algeria is currently adopting a five-year plan and it will invest as much as USD 300mn in the development of infrastructure,” Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic said after meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia. Cooperation with Algerian companies announced He added that Serbian companies which have been working on smaller projects could get bigger jobs worth several hundred millions of euros in consortiums with Algerian firms. Algeria’s health minister told Dinkic that Serbian pharmaceutical companies would get special status in Algeria, which would make business for the Serbian companies easier. Algeria would also appropriate significant means for inviting Serbian doctors to come to Algeria and share their knowledge with Algerian colleagues. “We have agreed on the final details of a large contract for the utility industry which should be carried out by our company SDPR, which SDPR director and Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac negotiated. The banking details have been harmonized now and this will be the largest export business deal of our utilities industry this year,” he said. During the three-day visit to Algeria, Dinkic has also held meetings with five other ministers and the country’s governor. About 60 representatives of leading domestic companies in the field of utilities, construction, engineering, waterworks, pharmaceuticals, energy, food, and furniture production were also a part of the visit to Algeria.
