Gazprom, Srbijagas ink gas storage deal

Serbia's public gas company Srbijagas and Russia's Gazprom today signed a contract to set up a joint company for the underground gas storage in Banatski Dvor.

Serbia's public gas company Srbijagas and Russia's Gazprom today signed a contract to set up a joint company for the underground gas storage in Banatski Dvor. Srbijagas General Director Dusan Bajatovic and Gazprom Germania Executive Director Andrei Biryulin signed the contract. The initial agreement on setting up the joint-venture company was signed by Bajatovic and Gazprom President Aleksei Miller in Belgrade on October 20, in the presence of Serbian President Boris Tadic and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. According to Bajatovic's earlier statements, Srbijagas will own 49 percent of the shares in the new company, named Banatski Dvor Joint Venture, while Gazprom will have a 51 percent stake. The first meeting of the managing board of the new company is scheduled to be held in Banatski Dvor today.
