Energy Minister Petar Skundric said in Nis on Monday the route for the South Stream pipeline has not been confirmed yet. This will be determined once the feasibility study is completed, he explained. Minister: South Stream route not final “There is still no key document which confirms that the South Stream gas pipeline will be going through Serbia by way of Zajecar, and not Dimitrovgrad, and a feasibility study is being worked on currently,” Skundric said at a meeting of the Nisavski District in Nis, southern Serbia. The minister also stated that the talks reading this issue will continue, and that Serbia supports “eventual changes in the route” which would go through Dimitrovgrad or Nis, or from Nis towards Bar in Montenegro and Bari in Italy. He said that the development of the natural gas transmission grid in Serbia is most important at this point, that it must be finished before the South Stream is completed, and that no municipality has been left out of the process. Skundric “promised” that in the next two or three years, some EUR 400mn will be secured for this purpose, and that it will be completed in the next three to five years. He met today with regional officials in southeastern Serbia, as well as mayors and MPs representing that area of the country. However, the meeting saw a walkout staged by Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) official Nebojsa Radjelovic, who was not happy with the way the meeting was conducted, and the fact that the chief of the LDP councilor group in the Nis city assembly was not invited.
