Dacic condemns escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh
On Monday, Dacic discussed in New York with representatives of the Minsk Group the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. Following the meeting, he called on all sides to show maximum restraint from violence and work on the deescalation of the conflict.Dacic talked with representatives of the Minsk Group, Russian Ambassador Igor Popov, US Ambassador James Warlick, French Ambassador Pierre Andrieu, and the OSCE CiO's Personal Representative for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk.
They informed the OSCE CiO about the latest surge in violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the talks they had with the Armenian and Azerbaijani officials, the Serbian ministry of foreign affairs said.
The OSCE CiO expressed his full support to the work of the Minsk Group and Ambassador Kasprzyk.
Dacic reiterated his call for continuing the negotiations in order to reach a lasting solution for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and implementing measures for improving trust between sides to the conflict.
They also noted that the holding of a presidential summit, which had been mentioned before, would be a good step in that direction, the MFA statement said.
