The students blocking RTS placed containers and metal fences; Morning program cancelled

Students in front of the RTS building in Takovska are making noise by blowing whistles and vuvuzelas and chanting.

This morning, some of the RTS employees tried to enter the building, but, according to the social networks, that did not happen. The morning program is not broadcast.

After the RTS appeal, it was possible to replace some of the security workers

After the appeal, the students blocking RTS let several members of the RTS security into the buildings, which made it possible to replace a part of the workers who provide facilities and protection systems. This reduced the risk of possible incidents and accidents, RTS announced.

Blockades this morning prevented the replacement of security personnel, which could have catastrophic consequences in the event of a fire in the building.

"For the first time since the blockades of the RTS facilities which began on Monday at 10 p.m., the students and citizens conducting them prevented the removal of the security guards, thus putting the facilities and their surroundings in great danger.

The security of RTS was rotated 24 hours a day, and security employees were trained to handle fire protection systems, as well as other systems necessary for the functioning of the facilities.

In the event of any incident, which may occur in extraordinary circumstances prevailing in and around the facilities, it cannot be guaranteed that their action would be fast and efficient enough to prevent any negative consequences.

The public media broadcaster appeals to all those who block the entrances to RTS facilities to enable the replacement of security workers in order to raise the security of the facilities to a legally binding level," RTS announced on its official website.

The people are blocking RTS since April 14 at 10 p.m., and they announced that the blockade will last until a new competition for members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) is announced or until RTS is shut down.

Yesterday morning, the police brought the employees of the public broadcaster into the building, and then the crowd surrounded and blocked the official vehicles of the MIA at the intersection of Takovska and Svetogorska in an attempt to prevent police officers from taking the vehicles out of that area.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that, despite several warnings and orders from the police to allow the passage of official vehicles, the gathered refused to do so and pointed out that the police did not use force at any moment, but its members tried to reach an agreement with the gathered to withdraw.

Since the gathered did not clear the passage for official vehicles, the police pushed the gathered without using coercive means, and on that occasion one police officer suffered an ankle injury.

RTS broadcasts a regular program, and since the beginning of the blockade, it has twice called for an end to the blockade, pointing out that preventing employees from coming to their workplaces, and even to deliver food to those who work in the building, presents violence, and that the saddest thing is that it comes from those who advocate for a society in which there must be no violence.
