Revealed: They called them and asked how they wanted to be killed
Israel's domestic security agency, Shin Bet, has reportedly been contacting Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip by phone ahead of airstrikes, offering them a choice: leave their homes and be killed alone, or stay inside and die alongside their family members.
According to the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, at least five such cases have been reported over the past few months.
The newspaper reported that last Wednesday, Mohamed al-Bayouk was killed in an Israeli military airstrike in Khan Younis while standing on the roof of his house, after receiving a phone call from Shin Bet agents.
According to the report, they offered him a choice: either become the sole target of an airstrike while standing on the roof or remain inside the house with his family members.
According to the newspaper, Al-Bayouk chose to go up to the roof, where he was subsequently killed.
His aunt sustained serious injuries while trying to stop him from leaving the house after receiving the phone call, one of his relatives told Asharq Al-Awsat.
