PM-Designate for the composition of the new Government of Serbia faces a difficult task: Deadline - April 18
Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut, the head of the new Government of Serbia, who was nominated for that position by President Aleksandar Vučić last night, must form a new government by April 18, when the legal deadline expires.
Until then, the new government must be elected in the Serbian Parliament, where the ruling coalition around the SNS has an over half majority of MPs.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced last night that the Prime Minister-designate of the new Government of Serbia is Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut.
As announced, it was a big surprise for everyone, since the name Djuro Macut was not mentioned as the name of the head of the new Government of Serbia. After the meeting with the president, the PM-designate faces a difficult task. He has to put together a new government in just 11 days.
The resignation of Miloš Vučević, the former prime minister, was noted on March 19 in the parliament, and since then the legal deadline of 30 days for the election of a new government began to run.
This means that Prime Minister designate has only 11 days to determine who will be the new ministers or who will remain from the previous government.
By April 18, the composition of the new government must be on the agenda of the session of the Serbian Parliament in order for the MPs to vote for or against the election of the new government. It should only be a formality, since only the SNS has the majority of MPs in the parliament - 129 out of a total of 250.
