After that, the discussion will move on to the amendments.

A total of 174 amendments have been submitted to the set of judicial laws, and the Committee on Judiciary, Public Administration, and Local Self-Government has approved around ten of them.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary, Public Administration, and Local Self-Government, Uglješa Mrdić, said that one of the amendments adopted by the committee to the proposal for amending the Public Prosecutor’s Office Law provides that, instead of the Supreme Public Prosecutor, the High Prosecutorial Council will have the authority to assign prosecutors to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (PPOC).

Mrdić previously stated that he proposed the set of judicial laws to make the judiciary more efficient and to ensure the independence of both the prosecution and the courts.

He said that the judiciary and prosecution need people who are loyal to one state, which is Serbia, and that adopting these laws is only the first step in returning the seized judiciary to the state and the people.

Justice Minister Nenad Vujić earlier told Parliament that the amendments to the judicial laws proposed by Mrdić represent a step toward improving the functioning and efficiency of the judiciary, adding that they also increase access to justice for citizens.

On the agenda is also a list of candidates for members and deputy members of the Commission for the Revision, Verification, and Control of the Accuracy and Updating of the Voter List, and MPs are also reviewing amendments to the Civil Servants Law submitted by the Government of Serbia.

MPs will also consider a draft decision on designating four museum items as cultural goods of exceptional importance. These are the Coronation Regalia of King Peter I Karadjordjević, the Commendations of Nun Jefimija – the shroud for the relics of Prince Lazar, the Votive Carriage, and the sculpture "Danubius."

Also before MPs are the Reports on the work of the Republic Commission for the Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024, the Monitoring Report for 2024, and a draft decision to approve the Statute of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism, and Energy.

On the agenda are also a draft decision to approve the Financial Plan of the Securities Commission for 2026 and a draft decision to approve the Financial Plan of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia for 2026.

The extraordinary session began on January 14.
