Macut and Government Ministers pay tribute at Zoran Đinđić assassination site
Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut and members of the government laid a wreath today at the site where the assassination of the then Prime Minister of Serbia, Zoran Đinđić, took place 23 years ago.
The tribute was attended by ministers Nenad Vujić, Sara Pavkov, Jagoda Lazarević, Zoran Gajić, Bratislav Gašić, Demo Beriša, Bela Balint, Djordje Milićević, Novica Tončev, Nenad Popović, Milan Krkobabić, and Usame Zukorlić.
Zoran Djindjić was assassinated on March 12, 2003, at the entrance to the government building. He was 50 years old at the time.
He was shot with a sniper rifle at 12:25 p.m. in the courtyard of the Government of Serbia, and after surgery, he died at the Emergency Center.
Djindjić was the first Prime Minister of Serbia following the fall of Slobodan Milošević’s regime in 2000 and was one of the key figures of the October 5th democratic changes.
He was buried on March 15, 2003, in the Alley of Distinguished Citizens at the New Cemetery.
