"This may be a historic turning point for this part of Serbia. Sjenica is a beautiful municipality in Serbia in which insufficient investment has been made in previous decades. Today, the possibilities of the state are greater," Serbian President said on the occasion.

President of Serbia announced today, after signing a commercial contract on the preparation of technical documentation and construction works on the 75-kilometer highway from Požega to Duga Poljana, that construction of the section will begin in March and be completed in four years.

"What we signed today is a new 75 kilometers of road. Of that, 51 are in tunnels and bridges - 70 percent of the route. From Požega through Arilje and Ivanjica, it exits between Sjenica and Pazar. Thus, one would be able to come to Belgrade from Duga Poljana in two hours, no more of 2 hours, and the difference is 2.5-3 hours in relation to this today", Vučić pointed out.

"Sjenica will have a new life in four years, it is important that we provide financing, without increasing the public debt rate," he said. "When everything is over, the whole of Serbia will be connected by highways," he added. "We have signed all the papers, but we have not signed the costs yet," he said. "It will cost us around 1.5 billion euros, it can't turn out to be less," said Vucic. "It is not only a question of comfort and the length of the trip, but also of the progress and future of this region," he added. "In just four years, you will have a highway to Belgrade." I hope that people in Bosnia-Herzegovina will have more understanding and start building that part of the highway from Kotroman and Visegrad to Sarajevo in the length of about 98 kilometers. Then we would connect from Uzice to Kotroman and have Sarajevo two and a half hours away from Sjenica and Novi Pazar", said Vucic. "That means that factories and investments will come to employ people and not to leave this beautiful area," President of Serbia emphasized.

President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is staying today and tomorrow in the Zlatibor and Raška districts.

If someone wants to get rich, let him make the road first

Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo stated that the construction of the highway section from Požega to Duga Poljana, near Sjenica, is very important, illustrating that she traveled from Belgrade to Čačak for an hour and a half today, and then from Čačak to Sjenica in two and a half hours.

"This is another result of the cooperation between the two sides in the field of infrastructure," the ambassador told reporters. "In China, we always say - if a person wants to get rich, he must first make a road. I am convinced that the construction of a new section will bring this region more and more opportunities for economic development," Chen pointed out. She said that the section from Požega to Duga Poljana will be even more difficult than the section near the end of Preljina - Požega.

"Thanks to Serbian partners for their trust in Chinese companies and Chinese technology. I am convinced that CRBC will be capable enough and that it will complete the section with quality," said the Chinese ambassador.
