Church protests over toilet paper used in national assembly

The Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) has protested in the strongest terms with the Serbian National Assembly.

The protest has been sent over the use in parliament of toilet paper that has the "cross of Christ" printed on it, the Beta agency reported.

The Church deemed this to be deeply offensive not only to all Christians - Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant alike - but also "to all people of faith, and of a sound mind," and asked authorities to "find and publicly announce the name of the person who committed this act of blasphemy."

The image printed on the toilet paper is that of the symbol of the banned right-wing Obraz movement - which incorporates the cross.

An anonymous MP made a photograph showing the controversial toilet paper.
