A statement explained that a patrol reacted when a BMW passenger car and a cargo vehicle ignored an order to pull over and continued driving.

The police eventually stopped them in a nearby village, detaining the BMW driver, while several persons at the same time "exited the cargo vehicle and started running."

The persons in question were 15 illegal migrants whom the officers managed to round up, while also finding and arresting the second driver.

The suspects - identified as P.I. (born in 1992) and M.I. (1994), both residents of the town of Bor - are currently in up to 48-hour police custody, while their vehicles have been temporarily confiscated.

They will be charged and brought before the Basic Public Prosecution in Zajecar, the Interior Ministry (MUP) said.
