Jovanka Broz buried with military honors

BELGRADE Jovanka Broz was buried in the Belgrade mausoleum and memorial "Kuca Cveca" ("House of Flowers") on Saturday with military honours. She was the widow of former life-long president of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRJ) Josip Broz Tito. The ceremony was carried out without the requiem service and without the state flag on the coffin, without any religious and ideological symbols, in keeping with the wish of the wife of late Yugoslav president who never held a state office. In addition to the members of the family, the funeral was attended by representatives of the top government, diplomatic corps, the Federation of Associations of Veterans of the National Liberation War (SUBNOR) and several delegations of anti-Fascist and veteran organisations from former Yugoslav republics. Speeches at the funeral were delivered by Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Jovanka's nephew Goran Aleksic and SUBNOR President Miodrag Zecevic. The funeral was attended by ministers Rasim Ljajic, Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic and Aleksandar Antic, Secretary General of the Serbian government Veljko Odalovic, President of the Serb National Council in Croatia Milorad Pupovac and Serbian president's wife Dragica Nikolic.
