The public prosecutor has ordered the release of two ethnic Albanians detained on Monday evening on suspicion of attacking a police patrol. "Police at the northern station apprehended two persons who were remanded in custody for 72 hours. This morning, however, the public prosecutor ordered that the suspects be released and granted bail," Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Deputy Commander for Northern Kosovska Mitrovica Predrag Vasovic said. A group of ethnic Albanians attacked a police patrol in the Bosnjacka Mahala estate at around 17:00 CET yesterday. The three policemen sustained minor injuries in the course of the attack. The police patrol was of mixed composition—one ethnic Albanian, one Serb and one Bosniak police officer. All was quiet last night in Kosovska Mitrovica. An increased presence of KPS officers was observed in Bosnjacka Mahala. The estate is an ethnically mixed part of town in northern Kosovska Mitrovica. Besides Serbs, its population also includes Kosovo Albanians, Bosniaks and a number of Gorany.
