Hashim Thaci once again rejected the possibility of a special status for northern part of Kosovo, said reports from Pristina on Wednesday. Thaci, who heads the government in Pristina, made the statement after a meeting with EU's new Special Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar. Thaci against "special status", rejects Tadic's plan "I welcome everyone's readiness to recognize Kosovo, but Kosovo is one, unique, an independent and of course sovereign country. There will be no specific, special or autonomous treatment for any of ethnic communities or parts of Kosovo, Thaci said commenting on the announcements that Serbs from the north would recognize Kosovo, in case its northern part obtained a special status," Pristina-based Albanian language daily Express reported. In his address to Kosovo officials, Zbogar requested that they be "more engaged in strengthening the rule of law", but also promised "assistance in finding a solution for northern Kosovo and expressed EU's readiness to help Kosovo on its European path", reported Tanjug. The northern part of Kosovo is inhabited by the majority Serb population, who reject the authority of Thaci's government, as well as the unilateral declaration of independence made by ethnic Albanians four years ago. Hashim Thaci (file) "No room for discussion, unacceptable" Hashim Thaci also today addressed the so-called four-point plan for Kosovo presented by Serbian President Boris Tadic, to describe it as "unacceptable". According to a Tanjug news agency report, Thaci spoke during a session of the Pristina government to say that "this or any other plan proposed by Serbia is unacceptable for Kosovo and there is no room for discussion". The Kosovo prime minister said Serbia "should not waste time drafting plans for Kosovo", and asserted that the territory was "a sovereign and independent country and decides its issues on its own".
