According to reports, Serbian police are preventing heavy machinery from crossing the administrative line and helping the Serbs build the new barricade. The citizens set up new barricades on the main road from Raska to Jarinje by laying tree trunks across both traffic lanes, thus disabling the passage of vehicles. The Jarinje administrative crossing opened at 9:00 this morning. The barricade in Jarinje was removed Thursday morning and EULEX member who is present at the Jarinje crossing told Tanjug that traffic via the crossing functioned as of 9:00 today. The Serbs present at the Kosovo side of the crossing are redirecting the vehicles to an alternative road which bypasses the Jarinje crossing. Several churches in Kosovo held services today, praying for peace in the southern Serbian province. Bishop of Raska-Prizren Teodosije pointed out that “we have to build peace and future for all the peoples living here” without forgetting the past. He said that it was necessary in this historic moment that priests, monks and the people support efforts to solve the existing problems in a peaceful and dignified manner with prayers. Local Serbs put up the roadblock of tree trunks across a section of the road from Ribarice, a village in central Serbia close to the administrative line with Kosovo, to Brnjak, blocking both lanes and disabling traffic towards Brnjak from central Serbia. The Serbs initially planned to use heavy mechanical equipment to shift earth from the ground and use it as a material for the barricade, giving up on the idea eventually due to the presence of Serbia's police on the central Serbia side of the crossing. Instead, they blocked the section of the road in the zone between the two administrative sides by cutting timber from a nearby forest, piling up the tree trunks and stretching the barbed wire that had remained there from the last KFOR operation. The crossing was open for traffic for almost two and a half hours, but no vehicle passed there because KFOR soldiers are directing traffic to an alternative route. The Serbs in the cross-border zone are doing the same .
