Representatives of police unions decided to freeze the announced strike after a several-hour meeting with Interior Minister Ivica Dacic. President of the Independent Police Union Velimir Barbulov told B92 that the government had agreed to pay each MUP employee bonus worth RSD 10,000 for November and December. Serbian police unions freeze strike “It has been agreed to allocate one-time financial aid for November and December to help improve financial situation of the ministry employees which will be paid during the last two months of the year,” he explained. “Implementation of police law, which allows payment of increased wages by 30 or 50 percent compared to other employees in other state bodies due to difficult working conditions, will begin on January 1 next year,” Barbulov stressed. Police trade unions requested a 40 percent raise, changes to the law on police and improvement of policemen’s status.
