Serbia's legal expert Tibor Varadi once again spoke about the country's ICJ initiative on Kosovo. Varadi, who represents Belgrade before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) told the daily Vecernje Novosti in an article published today he believes that at its September 17 session, the Committee of the UN General Assembly will decide that the Serbian initiative on raising the issue of legality of the self-proclaimed Kosovo independence before the ICJ be included in the Assembly's agenda. Varadi optimist ahead of UN GA session “I would be surprised if the Committee decided otherwise. But there is a more serious obstacle Serbia will meet at the General Assembly itself, a body which will decide whether it will present this or some other similar issue to the Court ,” he explained. Varadi assessed that “if our issue reaches the Court, there is a realistic chance that the Court says this [Kosovo independence declaration] is not in keeping with international law.”
