War Crimes Prosecution in Belgrade spokesman Bruno Vekaric told the daily that Seselj had the right to defend himself any way he saw fit, but that it was impossible to check on every statement he made to see if it was true or relevant. “Of course the Hague Tribunal checks on everything it deems as important to the arrest of the remaining fugitives and clearing up all the cases. We also check in cooperation with the Interior Ministry, but when we do so, we make the public aware of it,” Vekaric said. He reiterated that it was Seselj’s manner, and the manner of his witnesses to “say various untruths before the trial chamber.” Seselj told the Hague Tribunal yesterday that he had talked to the most sought-after Hague fugitive Ratko Mladic, and said on Tuesday that he had spoken to Radovan Karadzic as well.
