The discussion focused on the participation of Serbian scientists and the country's cooperation with Europe's biggest scientific institution.

The officials also spoke about joint participation in Horizon 2020 projects, and appraised that this was "an exceptional way to improve cooperation that could bring significant investments."

Bertolucci, Tsesmelis and Serbian Education Minister Srđan Verbić attended the opening of the "CERN in Serbia 2014" exhibition, organized to mark the 60th anniversary of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, of which Serbia is an associate member.

Currently, about 50 scientists and researches from Serbia are taking part in the work of the organization.

Bertolucci spoke at the event to say that investing in science, research, and education meant investing in the future, and added he was impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of the young people in Serbia.

The exhibition, showcasing CERN's instruments, detectors, and technologies, will be open through September 19 and is hosted by the Science Club (Naučni Klub) of the Center for Promotion of Science (CPN).
