Speaking on Wednesday, she added that "this commitment will shape the future government's reform course for the next four years."

"I expect that we will be completing these steps on the EU integration path at a faster and more successful pace," Joksimovic said at the opening of a photo exhibition set up as part of Europe Day celebration at the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).

Joksimovic said that the people of Serbia had given their support to the pro-European course and politics in the recently-held elections, showing maturity despite all the doubts and euro-scepticism present.

"The people have shown that they understand how important it is to societal and economic progress for us to be stable on the road to the EU," Joksimovic said.

The exhibition at the NBS was also attended by Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport and Deputy Head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy in Belgrade Marielle van Miltenburg.

The Serbian minister thanked the Dutch deputy ambassador for the Netherlands' support for Serbia's efforts to open Chapters 23 and 24 in accession negotiations as soon as possible.
