BELGRADE Political analyst Jovan Komsic says Vojvodina authorities are not threatened but that he would not rule out a possibility of early parliamentary elections. However, he said that early elections would not be good for the country. Vojvodina authorities stable, analyst says Possible holding of early parliamentary elections in 2013 is still discussed. Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) high-ranking official Igor Mirovic has said recently that the provincial authorities will be replaced this year. “According to the existing bills, they cannot simply call the early elections in Vojvodina. And we know that the ruling coalition in Vojvodina is the most stable at the moment, despite all problems that the ruling factors can have, bearing in mind the general context in Serbia and announced investigations and other operations regarding the Capital Investment Fund, announcements in media about opening of responsibility of politicians for cooperation with mafia clans, with (runaway drug lord Darko) Saric and so on. That’s all media spinning that suggest a possibility of a more problemartic context for the ruling coalition in Vojvodina, but that is a political context,” Komsic explained. He noted that it was not possible to call the elections if the ruling coalition in Vojvodina did not agree. Komsic added that if the EU postponed the beginning of the accession talks, it could be used as an excuse to call the early elections. A view of Novi Sad (Beta, file) B92
