Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bodganovic says the EU mission in the province, EULEX, will have "a good partner in Serbia". He explained that this will be true "as long as it acts as a neutral body". "Support for EULEX as long as it's neutral" EULEX today marks one year of its operation in Kosovo. Bodganovic evaluated that the fact that Serbia accepted EULEX's arrival a year ago, in accordance with UN Security Council (SC) Resolution 1244, proved that the Serbian government is "pragmatic and constructive". “It was not easy to make such a decision or to implement all the conclusions of the SC. Serbia remains consistent in its principles which are presented through the country's positions before the ICJ in The Hague,” the minister told Tanjug. “Serbia does not want to have disputes with the international community without a reason. Our goal is to strengthen the position of Serbia and the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija with a realistic and constructive approach to legitimate international presence in the province,” he added. EULEX, which became fully operational in April 2009, is the largest civilian mission ever deployed by the EU. With nearly three thousand personnel, the mission is working with local partners to improve the rule of law in Kosovo specifically in the fields of justice, police and customs.
